The 2030 Agenda
The Sustainable Development Goals are a shared plan for improving people’s lives while protecting the planet. Choose a goal below to read its plain-language guide.

In 2015, all United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At its centre are 17 goals and 169 targets to be pursued by 2030.
The goals are connected. Progress on education can improve health and employment; climate action can protect food, water and livelihoods. They are a framework for planning and accountability—not a set of decorative labels.
