Sustainable Development Goal 1 of 17
Everyone should be able to meet basic needs and find support when hardship strikes.

Poverty is more than having too little money. It can mean being unable to afford food, housing, healthcare or schooling, and having no support when a job is lost or a disaster strikes. This goal calls for essential services, fair access to resources and protection for people facing hardship.
A family should be able to get healthcare and keep children in school when its income suddenly falls.
These are areas of action within the goal, not a complete list of its UN targets.
Access to healthcare, education and other basic services
Support when income is lost or a disaster strikes
Fair access to resources and opportunities
Illness can push a family into poverty, so access to healthcare supports both goals.
